Eugene plans electric rail line to open Willamette coast
A letter by J W Zimmerman urges Lane County readers to back an electric railroad from Eugene through the Willamette Valley to the Siuslaw harbor. He argues rail trunk lines ignore rich timber and farming districts, hindering growth. The plan includes bonds of 100000 plus a federal match to open a deep water channel, advancing Eugene’s outport access and boosting land values.
