Contractors Work On Line Toward Eugene

Klamath Falls Oregon February 1 Indications are the California Northeastern railroad will push past Klamath Falls with Erickson and Peterson at work on the grade north of town. A large steam shovel opens a way toward the upper lake waterfront and the spur to the lake front lies beyond the main grade. Contractors likely extend several miles beyond Klamath Falls signaling rapid construction of the Klamath Falls Natron division. Marsh work remains and depot yards require fill as dirt trains operate and a second steam shovel joins the big cut north of the city. About 200 men are employed locally as crews rush the line toward completion by May first.
