Home Burglary Claims Over 3200 In Silverware
The A. C. Brown home on East Howard Street was burglarized Saturday night with over 3200 in solid silverware stolen. Entry came via a northside window using a ladder to the refrigerator room. a door panel was removed to reach the lock from outside. The lower rooms were ransacked and a small band grip vanished. After thefts in the lower areas, burglars ate cookies, drank coffee, and took two bottles of wine in the basement before leaving. The crime occurred between midnight and 3 am while the family was out riding. Investigators suspect local opportunists or professional burglars, with a passing umbrella vendor and scissor sharpener questioned but cleared. This is the first burglary in Estherville in years.
