Big Time at Macoun attracts crowd for farm talk night

Friday evening gathering at Macoun drew local residents and farmers as speakers from the Grain Growers Association and church figures shared views on farming, labor, and Canada’s wheat production. The event emphasized community support and farm work ethics ahead of the coming season.

Branch of Great War Veterans Formed in Estevan

A Tuesday meeting at the Board of Trade office formed an Estevan branch of the Great War Veterans Association. Sixteen veterans attended. Sam H. Johnson elected president with Lieut A Hill as treasurer. Dr J Bromley chaired. officers also include B Dryden and C F Cowgill. The group aims to establish club rooms and build a strong local organization by fall.

Rural Ratepayers Meeting Notice

Rural ratepayers are urged to attend meetings on Monday evening at the six divisions schools. The talks focus on roadwork planned for the year and ratepayers are advised to participate in the discussion rather than complain if they do not attend.

Three Trains Weekly Services Resumed on Tri-weekly Basis

Supt Chown of the C P R arrived Tuesday and learned from the C P A at Regina that local service would resume on a tri weekly schedule. Monday Thursday and Saturday are advised running days though no official notice has been issued. The news pleases travelers and merchants hoping for eventual daily service. On the Neptune sub division trains run Monday and Friday starting April 1 with Wednesday cut. freight runs between Estevan and Portal on other days with one crew base.

Motor Vehicle Licensing Offenders Fined in Local Case

Last Saturday in Macoun and Benson a group of men faced trial before J.P. H H McLeod for operating cars without licenses under the Motor Vehicles Act. All pleaded guilty except FE R Steele who plans to appeal after stating his license arrived the next day and others held similar offenses.
