Various residents make trips and visits from Alton to Evansville Bar Light and Anderson. People attend institutes, hospitals, and churches, with weddings and hospital moves noted. The string of names includes families Gaither, Purcell, Neville, Meylin, Brock, and others visiting, hosting, or traveling aboard the Str. Nashville and related events.
Local residents visit relatives and friends across Wickliffe Marengo Birdseye Wingate Eckerty Corydon and Jeffersonville. Birth of a son for Luther Morgan and Samuel Valentine named. Derby and Leavenworth played basketball with Leavenworth winning 3 to 2. Rainforth pitched. Numerous social visits listed with relatives, travel to Terre Haute Louisville and Knightstown for school and home events.

Thomas Earl Rawlings of Marengo wed Anna Huff of Cannelton in a Sunday ceremony at the Evanglial church parsonage. Rawlings serves as assistant principal at Cannelton High School and will continue in that role next year. They plan to reside in Overland. B Enlow English Cannelton.
The Longest Congregation of the Disciples of Christ will meet at the Longest schoolhouse on Saturday evening at seven thirty September 20, 1919 to elect three men as trustees for one year or until successors are elected and qualified. John L. Garland, pastor William A. Longest, elder.
Notice forbids hunting with dog or gun day or night on the farms of Mrs Mary Hamond and George D Gibbs in Milltown. Additional names may be added for fifty cents per name.
Col H Hoffman and W H McAlpine of the U S Engineers Office Louisville visited Leavenworth on Tuesday to review lock and dam No 44 plans. They were hosted by W W Conrad and family and praised the town as a promising vacation spot for their expedition.

Terms: cash under 5 dollars, over 5 dollars credit nine months with note and 6 percent interest. 2 percent discount for cash. property not removable until terms met.
The board met at the court house in English with all members present. They allowed routine expenses and ordered bids advertised for flooring the Alton bridge and contracts for several road projects in Patoka, Sterling, Liberty, and Whisky Run. Twelve road improvement petitions were continued, and viewers were appointed on a joint Crawford Perry highway. The Newton Stewart Eckerly road change was recorded and a new route petition received viewers. A contract to repair the temporary Indian Hollow bridge was awarded to W W Conrad for up to thirty dollars.
Carl Bottenfield formerly of Mill town now based in Gary Indiana wed Hildred Funk of Mill town at the home of Mr and Mrs J W Spencer on East Fifth Street. Elder C A Frakes Milltown officiated the ceremony and English. The Democrat offers congratulations.
The English school will open next Monday with the high school led by S. A. Beals as superintendent and Miss Nellie Taylor as principal. Mrs. Lula Davis will be assistant principal, with Miss Lois Payton in domestic science and Miss Warren in music. Grade teachers include Leonard Cummins, Miss Marie Goodwin, Elsie Blevins, and Miss Myrtle Eskew. Overland for sale. B. Enlow, English.
