A marriage notice follows a homily urging young men to work hard, thrift, and establish a home before marriage. Hiram M. Frakes and Leota A. Walker, both formerly of Branchville, Perry County, were married Friday evening at this place by Rev. W. H. Howerton. Frakes is a night agent for the Southern Railway. the bride is the daughter of Mr and Mrs A. C. Walker of the Commercial Hotel. The couple left Saturday to visit the groom’s parents and will soon establish their English home. Tur News extends congratulations.

Heads of Houses Welcome Louisville Traders to Busy Visit

A Louisville Board of Trade train with about 150 members arrived at noon and was greeted by local business leaders. A procession led to Gobbel's Opera House for a welcome by Joan H Luckett, praising Kentucky and Indiana trade links and urging expanded rail and electric connections. Several Louisville firms and organizations participated, marking a cordial cross state exchange and an invitation to return.

Stewart Gottfried-Marengo Couple Wed at Court House

Stewart and Maud Gottfried of Marengo were united in marriage at the Court House on Wednesday afternoon May 8, 1507, with Rev. W. H. Howerton officiating. The groom, long in Marengo, runs a restaurant at Parisill, and the bride, daughter of Peter Gottfried, is highly regarded. Citizens urged civic pride and improvements while noting a Saturday closing law for Marion County offices starting June 1 among counties with large seats.

Strawberry hopes rise as freezes sharpen berry quality

Dedication Delayed for Temple M E Church May 26

Aunt Betty Reacor Dies After Long Feeble Years

Last Saturday morning May 4 1967 Aunt Betty Reacor passed away in Crawford County. She moved Floyd County to West Park over fifty years ago and remained energetic in old age. Survived by children grandchildren and great grandchildren. Granddaughter Cora Reacor Forbes cared for her faithfully. Notice ends with a money loan notice from James E. Stewart offering $500 to $30,000 on approved security.
