The Dust of the Earth a four act comedy drama will be staged by local talent at the English Opera House soon. Cast includes David Moore Maple Farm Everett Prince Susan Moore Mrs L A Helmbrecht Elizabeth Jerry John A Blevins Rev Dr Templeton Charles Landiss Miss Arabella Nell Thornbury John Ryder Wandering Tom Old Morse Nell Hazel Gaither and others. S. A. Beals reports Crawford County Red Cross shipments this week from Alton English Leavenworth Marengo. Items include socks garments bed shirts comfort pillows wash cloths bags wristlets helmets sweaters and more with notes of minor reporting omissions and a call to knit sweaters using 50 pounds of yarn.

James J. Smith of Patoka township announces his bid for Crawford County treasurer on the Republican ticket with a May 7 1918 convention. Born near Old Mt. Sterling he has served as treasurer for fifteen months, praised for industrious trustworthy administration, courteous service and accurate books. He is a farmer and remains popular across party lines and is expected to be nominated without opposition and elected in the fall.
Rev J B Miller evangelist from Vincennes will conduct special services at the English Presbyterian church starting Wednesday April 10 at 7 00 p m A congregational meeting will be held Friday after the services to elect three trustees and other officers as needed
