Death of Civil War Veteran Mr Cole in Orange County
After a lingering illness of consumption seven months and four days, Mr Cole died in Orange county near Fargo. Born in Tennessee, he served in Co K of the 48th Illinois during the Civil War. He moved to Illinois at the war’s start, later settling in Orange county in 1897. He left a wife and seven children, three of whom preceded him in death. Funeral services were held Thursday at Providence church at 2 pm conducted by Rev William Gammon, with interment in the nearby cemetery.

Death of John Redden Near English in 1912
John Redden died at his home four miles north of English on March 14 1912 of consumption after a two year illness. He was 28 years and 6 days old and leaves a companion two children a father mother two brothers and a sister. He joined the Church of Christ a few years before his death and died in faith. Funeral services were held at the home March 15 at 1 o'clock p m conducted by Samuel Purkhiser and the remains were buried in Mathers cemetery.
