Obituary notes the March 1 1802 death of Alice G Roberts after a long illness. Honored as a student and teacher, she was active in the Epworth League and left a family of parents and siblings. Interment was March 13 1902 in Alton cemetery. A heavy engine wreck on the Southern near Mentor caused two deaths fireman Jacob Leasor and brakeman Ollie Fields and seriously injured Claude Sittason. Fifteen cars left track. bodies taken to Princeton and burial held for Fields after a 1 pm crash. Leasor leaves a wife and child in Patoka Township.
Pursuant to a Republican State Committee order delegates meet at Tomlinson Hall Indianapolis on April 23 and 24 1902. The sessions begin 2 p.m. April 23 for business and 9 a.m. April 24 to nominate candidates for Secretary of State Auditor of State Treasurer of State Attorney General Clerk of the Supreme Court Superintendent of Public Instruction State Geal State Statistician and judges for the Supreme and Appellate Courts.
The Southern Railway offers $19.35 round trip from St Louis to Charleston South Carolina for Charleston Day at the exposition. Tickets on sale March 8 return by March 18 with through sleepers via Louisville Knoxville Asheville and the Land of the Sky.
