Mrs James I Temple north of town is very sick. Various residents travel for English and calls include Wm Ballard from Riddle and J W Sloan near Temple. Funeral of Mrs L P Luckett at Terre Haute and visits by J R Crews, ex doorkeeper in Washington.
The Crawford County Jersey Cattle Club will meet at Eckerty on March 24, 1917. All interested residents are invited to attend and bring milk samples for free testing. Veatch and Ball will provide speakers, with Wm. Veatch presiding.

The Methodist church continues revival meetings every evening at 7 15 with the Rev M E Baker of Rising Sun Indiana assisting the pastor George Dalrymple. Come and enjoy the feast with us.
The Dillman Ridge church hosts a Sunday program with 1:3 time noted. On Friday March 23 the club meets in two sessions afternoon and evening. Afternoon tests soil acidity and liming needs. Evening features slides and lanterns. Speakers tour to Eckerty the next day for another club meeting.

Valley Temple of French Lick and the Temples at English tended the bedside of their mother Mrs. James Temple. Numerous visits and illness notes fill the week, including measles at Roscoe Lanaham and George Longest families, appendicitis recovery, and several local trips to Marengo and English.
The last teachers institute for the township met at Jericho schoolhouse on Saturday March 10 1917. Members included Ross Dougan Bella Rainforth William W Jones Jesse H Froman Zenis Parkhill Felix Pope Shirley Payne John A Wright and Garrison M Byrd with Wright as chair and Jones as secretary. The day featured music readings and speeches praising schools and the institute’s work with visiting attendees listed.

Health remains good in the area with no church service Saturday due to the pastor’s revival in English. J W Temple shows slight improvement while families and locals make short trips to Terre Haute Louisville Stewart Borden Huntingburg Marengo and English for visits business and court.
At the Crawford circuit court in English Judge William Richey presided. Cases heard Monday and Tuesday included Oliver Dooley acquitted of malicious mayhem. Martin King with two guilty pleas for drawing a dangerous weapon and assault, fines totaling four dollars. Woodie Tague guilty of wife and child desertion with prison term one to three years, suspended on good behavior and support condition. Divorce actions varied with dismissals and quieted titles.

Prof A N Bobbitt of Marengo spent weekend with I Bobbitt family. Lee Benham spent Sunday with Julius Benham family at Mifflin. Joseph Lotton visiting relatives in New Albany and Louisville. Mrs Ed Kaiser visited English friends last week. Phronia Pavey Omer Pavey and Turley Woolems at spelling match in Mifflin Friday. John Eckerly at English Monday. Dorothy Fields visiting parents D S Fields and wife from Marengo. Samuel Morgan visited friends at English Saturday. Win T Thuston and family moved from Terre Haute earlier this week. Mrs Lou Simcox and daughter-in-law Bertha Simcox of Mifflin visited Mrs M L Ott Monday.
Marengo H I Elson, who ran a furnishing store for four years, moved last week to Bedford to continue the same business. He left behind many friends who wish him success in the new home. George Farmer of Miffin, a former Crawford County teacher, visited Moray to meet township delegates and organize farmers institutes. Farmer was elected county chairman. Miss Jeanette Hobson, Mrs. Allan Hutslar and niece Phylis Vanmetre were in New Albany Tuesday. Mrs. Hutslar and niece then went to Charles Town to visit Mathias Vanmetre for a few days.
Old soldier T. S. Heistand died Monday at 3 p m in North Marengo after months of rheumatic illness. Funeral planned for Wednesday. The Alton area notes report numerous local visits, travel, and family sickness. A flood reaches East Division and postal lines are restored. Obituary details follow for Mrs. Hubert Rice of Webster City and family ties to Alton.
