The United States agriculture department urges farmers to raise more hogs. Hogs fit modern farming, require less labor and capital, yield quick gains, and efficiently use by products. Higher hog production can boost meat supply and profits amid strong demand and high prices.
The Indiana Daily Times urges protecting fighting men by cleaning camps from alcohol and prostitution. It warns alcohol leads to pneumonia and tuberculosis and calls for interning John Barleycorn and the associated prostitute to safeguard soldiers.
An all day meeting is scheduled at Tunnel Hill on July 4. Attendees are asked to bring lunch and expect a productive gathering led by Ed Kaiger.
Crawford county Registration Board registered 114 voters last week including 28 women. Nine more weeks remain to register. The board can register about 80 per day, so voters are urged to act now to avoid a late rush.
