In French Lick township, including French Lick and West Baden Springs, saloons were shut down by a remonstrance with a 144 vote majority. Temperance supporters campaigned to keep signatures and win the ballot, and the temperance side prevailed.

Survived by husband Charles Martin son Carl half sisters Mrs H R Friend and Mrs James D Applegate. Describes her church life music talent and last words Take me. Funeral at Mrs H R Friend’s residence conducted by Rev. Rummel and Rev. J M Johnson.
The English News Band led by Prof O E Palmiter will perform at the Opera House in English on Thursday evening July ath. The program features cornet and baritone solos by the Palmiter duo, marches, songs, select readings, and a Star Spangled Banner tableau. Proceeds fund local support.
