Avoid worry hats and alcohol while favoring ice water lemonade soda and moderate meals. Also notes fish must be fresh to avoid typhoid and warns against under rather than overexerting in heat.

A two story building opposite The News office on Main street containing a residence and a Cummins Toney restaurant was destroyed by fire on Wednesday night. Owned by Wm. Cummins, the property was insured for 1000 with 100 on the stock. the loss is fully covered by insurance.

Mrs Robt Hubbard returned from New Albany where she visited her son Ivan Hubbard for several days. Vernie Sarles attended the Magnolia hop Saturday night. Elmer Jenkins and wife visited L H Shields and wife. No Sunday school due to rain. Elmer Hanger and Cleo Jenkins visited Hazel and Izetta Shields. Vernie Sykes attended English on Sunday. Charlie Turley and others were at English Monday. L H Shields fired up his factory Friday for the first time this season and canned several cans of plums and berries. Elmer Jenkins also had dental work in English Monday. 1 M S
James Ransom Lambdin born January 6 1828 died July 21 1812 aged 84 years 5 months and 15 days. He married Winifred McIntosh May 18 1851 and had eleven children six living Robert David Levi Mary John and George. Grandfather of Sam A Lambdin he leaves a wife six children grandchildren and many friends. Funeral services were held at the home Monday by Rev Oscar Danner and burial was in Taylor cemetery.
Minnie Goldman is on the sick list. James Goldman and wife visited his sister Mrs Owen Cole Saturday night. A party at Dave Goldman’s Saturday night drew many locals. An ice cream supper at Henry Myler’s home Saturday night was well attended. Floyd Goldman and sister Lydia joined Chas Wright Saturday night and the Riddle J ice cream supper. Lavin and wife visited Thos Lyons and family at St Croix Sunday. Several Goldman families visited Charley Goldman and family Sunday. Gobbel and Son advertises Liva Kidney liver remedy.
Health is fine. Weather warm with a Sunday shower. A rainy Sunday touched the district with slow wheat threshing on the ridge. Ed Velcein and wife visited relatives near Sulphur Saturday night. Millard Wiseman improves after illness. Mrs James Small remains very low with consumption. The ice cream festival at Riddle drew a large crowd and much enjoyment. Albert Schultz attended Magnolia picnic. Cecil Byrd of Alton visited Miss Bell Holstine. Beechwood sent strong festival representation Saturday night. Elisha Esarey and wife near Sulphur attended and visited Mrs Esarey's parents Dan and Tadlock. Mrs Mary Jenkins of Curby and Mrs Janie Jenkins of Leavenworth visited the cemetery Friday.
Field examiners deputized by the state board of health at Indianapolis tour the New Albany district counties evaluating sanitary conditions in schools. Five Orange county buildings were condemned recently and ordered closed until defects are fixed. The piece ends with a health lifestyle message and a prompt to visit Robert Longest’s for confections.

A reception for old and new members was held at the church of Christ on July 6 after a tent meeting. Pastor Crabb Bobbitt Lama and Stallings spoke with Miss Edith Ott providing music. More services are planned with Rev C C Lamar preaching next weekend.
Mrs Scott and Miss Delpha Smallwood returned home Saturday. Millard Jeffries and family and Mrs Dora Jeffries attended a Branchville church. Jake Harris and wife visited Mrs Harris’s sister Mrs Media Eaton. Oscar Armstrong Everett Timberlake and Willy Fouch returned home last week. Young folks sing Thursdays at the M E church. A boy of Oliver Powell was injured Sunday morning. Tent meeting at Sulphur to be conducted by Revs Eskew Crider with Miss Clara Lewis of English as organist. Meetings begin July 27 and run to August 0.
