Weekend visits and travel report numerous residents from Corydon and nearby towns. Attendance at Masonic lodge and church events noted. A July 19 1919 mount Sterling church event will feature Nolan Level’s funeral sermon. A Kansas harvest trip and a 12 pound birth are among minor items.
From Indianapolis last week on account of his father illness Frank A Thornbury. Clarence Bullock wed Amy Maud Stevens on July 16 at the M E parsonage in English by Rev John Herndon. The Marengo ball team traveled to English Sunday and in a closely fought game were defeated by the English team 6 to 4.
Local notes report residents visiting, traveling and illness. People mentioned include Reverend Wilson from Pennsylvania, Ishii in town, J. F. Jenner of Boston and many families from Milltown, Louisville, Brandenburg and New Albany. A wedding announces Bella Rainforth to Bradley Chism in Louisville. Funeral for Mrs. Hollcroft is noted with details of survivors. Dam construction officials visit, with six year completion forecast and mobile houses planned.
Marengo and surrounding residents report visits, returns from service, illnesses, and travel. A. H. Scott attends business in English and Co L Alderson sees friends in Paoli. Claud Poe travels to Louisville and returns home with discharge. Several relatives and locals visit French Lick and Jeffersonville.
Rev Harvey Gilliatt, field agent for Indiana Central University, spoke on Christian education at the U B church. Miss Carrie Hammond and Wallace Alderson head to Ashland Kentucky for a family visit. Obituary notes report Mrs John R Stalcup died, cancer long suffered, burial at Valeene. Local residents ship overseas veteran Mr Scott, discharged as Major after serving as Captain. Various visits to Louisville and surrounding towns are noted along with farm and business activity in Dalton and English last Saturday.
The Chautauqua will meet on a Wednesday afternoon, July 23, at the school house. Roll call covers keeping youths engaged in farm and home life with short papers on organization for children, club work in Indiana counties, and a country girl’s creed. Discussion on games for children, reading from New Housekeeping, current events, and officers listed.
Columbus H Noblitt born December 5 1861 near Hobson s bridge Orange County Indiana. He married Miranda E Roberts April 25 1884 and had six children. He lived on a farm near Eckerty and was an early Crawford county teacher. He died after a five month illness and is survived by five children two grandchildren a brother and an aging mother. Rev B B Catt officiated at the Eckerty burial beside his wife. He remained a Prohibition advocate despite opposition.
A July 13 homecoming at Mrs Mary E Parr’s house near Alton celebrated Virgil Wilkes returning from France after fourteen months in service. Nel son A Parr was absent in Hampton Virginia. five sons and two daughters gathered with Dr and Mrs W L Parr Iona Evansville Florence Lloyd Charles Ellen Oscar Parr Hazel Elmer Helen and others.

The Adams family descendants from Massachusetts who settled in Kentucky and Crawford County will hold their annual reunion at G. W. Ferguson's one mile north of Milltown on Sunday July 20. L. C. Adams of New Salisbury Indiana invites all family members and interested parties to attend. the group will present their genealogical data and war records from the Revolution to the present.
A $50 reward is offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person who threw a rock through a window of the Sulphur I O O F Lodge No. 861 meeting room. Local lodge officials urge witnesses to come forward.
James H. Dunn 23 farmer near Milltown to Nettie Blanche Baylor 22 near Marengo. Alvin Abell 21 farmer to Alberta Bradshaw 16 both of Birdseye.
The notice lists church services on Sunday July 20 at 10:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. in English and a 3:00 p.m. service in Grantsburg.
An all-day meeting will be held at No 10 school house on Sunday July 27. Funeral sermons in memory of Mr and Mrs Ernest Dillman will be preached by Elder Sam White assisted by Elder Leonard Cummins. Everybody invited.
