Ross A Scanland and Hazel Cummins wed Saturday at 4 30 PM in Marengo Indiana. Elid D Bennett officiated at the bride’s grandparents home on East Fifth Street. The couple will live in French Lick where Scanland works as an electrician.
Alma Miller daughter of William and Daisy Miller was born April 15 1913 and died June 28 1914 at 3 30 am after a brief illness of blood poison at the parents home west of English She leaves a father mother two brothers and four sisters The funeral was conducted at the home by Rev Lutes at 4 00 pm and burial followed in Land cemetery with large attendance

Purdue professor Z M Smith will speak the first day along with Rev. Deich and Rev. Bentley. Dr Onstott of Corydon will preach Wednesday morning and Rev. Hyde of New Albany will deliver the Wednesday night sermon.

Carter Gresham near English was in town Sunday. Jerry Landrus of English was on our streets Sunday. Kermit Seaton of Burnett visited relatives here last week. Orin and Vernie Sarles near English visited Golda Yates and Kate Furges on Sunday. Seldon Brown and Edith visited Thomas Goodson and family Saturday and Sunday. Thurman Belcher and wife left for New Madrid Missouri to make their future home. Curtis Turley and Raymond Sarles of No 10 were in town Saturday night. Curtis and Raymond were so sleepy Sunday that it was impossible to stay awake. All the boys should go on Saturday to learn how to work Monday. Listen for the wedding bells.
Clark Lodge No. 40 plans a possible suit against the Indiana Grand Lodge to enforce a contract to erect a Jeffersonville site for a Masonic orphans home. The lodge, trustee under James A Holt, contends the Grand Lodge agreed in 1913 to locate the state home near Jeffersonville in exchange for the trust, but the 1914 Grand Lodge allegedly lacked authority to reverse that action.
The Republicans of Sterling township are requested to meet in convention at English on Saturday July 18 1914 for nominating a township ticket and to attend to any business before the convention. All Republicans and those wishing to affiliate with the party are urged to be present. By Order Committee.

The obituary for Laura Lathrop, born 1854 in Madison and died 1914 at age 59, notes marriage to Alex Perkins in 1875, two daughters Claudia May and Hazel Lathrop, and long active church involvement.

Seventeen palefaces joined Redmen. ministerial institute opens next week. Winfred Roy Purcell dies at one year nine months.
Shelby Rainforth is able to be up and out again. Mrs. Joe Collingwood of Kansas is visiting relatives here. Mr. and Mrs. Alma Jenkins and Miss Clara Dantic have returned home from employment at the Richmond insane hospital. A crowd attended the Mansfield ice cream supper Saturday night. Guy Rainforth who worked at Richmond has returned home. A crowd from here attended prayer meeting on the ridge Sunday.
W H Wiseman was in Louisville visiting Mrs Roy McClure of Riddle and brother Omer Roberson on Tuesday. Bell Wiseman traveled to Indianapolis on Wednesday. Amzel Sprinkle of West Fork visits her uncle John Reasor. Mrs Morland and Miss Senn passed through en route to Branchville from Pilot Knob Monday. Mr and Mrs Simon Wright visited Jesse Goldman and wife near Union Chapel Sunday. Mrs Bell Wiseman Mae Wiseman and Elmer Riddle were at Leavenworth Saturday. Eulala Wiseman visited her sister Mrs Sidney Purcell near Alton Thursday.
Health is very good. Miss Oda Kellams, Pearl Moery, and Lillian Moery visited Miss Nellie Osborn and Miss Sallie Osborn Sunday. Mr and Mrs Chas Snelling hosted a large crowd including Willian Snelling Frank McCarty and family Jacob Eckerty and family Willard Lane Will McCarty Davie McCarty and her brothers Lee and Alvan Elvet Snelling and family visited John McWilliams and family. Jacob Limp who bought an auto two weeks ago abandoned joy riding for a farm wagon and donkeys saying they don t run dry of gasoline and must be hauled in.
