Thomas H H Peckinpaugh aged 72 died in Madison on Sunday and was brought to Crown Hill-Salem for burial after a service. He left few relatives two sisters Mrs N R R Broomer and Mrs Lizzie Gurley in Wichita Kansas and a brother Isaac F E Peckinpaugh in Lone Tree Iowa who attended the funeral. He was a Civil War veteran and a member of the local Masons and G A R posts. Members cared for the remains until interment Wednesday afternoon. The note adds a local hint about Roll Sisters debts and a call to settle before August 1 from J E Hankins Photographer and Jeweler.
Leavenworth reports show a July excursion planned by S FE Grimes and a growing button factory workforce. Franks Campbell’s house nears completion while Chas Mead returns from Vincennes to join P L Houser’s restaurant.
