Corydon Republican reports work on the government dam above Leavenworth will start in early spring. If completed there and the New Boston contract, the river between Louisville and Evansville could stay navigable year round. Site chosen is just above Leavenworth near the island.
Miss Hazel Noble visits New Albany and the Sprinkle family returns from Evansville. E E Roberson recovers from lagrippe and Rev F D McMartin of Louisville preaches at the Presbyterian church. The Tarascon and Tell City packet boats, long a river link between Louisville and Evansville, made their final run last Saturday. Owned by the Louisville and Evansville Transportation Company, the vessels and their New Albany wharf are up for sale. The company plans to operate the Lucinda between Evansville and Louisville to cover the trade, a move locals fear will reduce river shipping capacity.

G W Lee traveled to Winchester Kentucky on business. C E Landrus hauled produce and calves to Marengo Thursday. Clayton Conrad is very sick. Dr Grant attended Monday. A B Henry and Welk Hoff visited relatives in Marengo over the weekend. Eliza Mills returned home for an extended visit from English after six months. Mary House returned home after visiting Mrs Burley in Marengo. Carrie Bernardi and Geneva Everdon spent Sunday with Beatrice Carson. James Landrus went to Marengo.
The teachers of Sterling Liberty and Whisky Run townships at the joint institute in English Indiana January 16 1915 express thanks to the music groups the teachers and officials and extend invitation to all patrons. They commend Supt Beals for his personal supervision and interest and approve publishing copies of the resolutions in three county papers.

Fesler and wife were called to Doolittles Mill Tuesday to attend the bedside of Mrs. Oscar Doolittle. George Woolums of Mt. Carmel visited Elmer Wiseman and family recently.
