Local notice urges precinct committeemen and active Republicans to attend a meeting in English on Tuesday January 18 1916 to discuss candidate selection for Crawford County and other important business. Also includes local greetings obituaries sick reports and community notices.
County candidates must file to appear on ballots within 60 to 30 days before the March 7 primary. The secretary of state certifies candidates 20 days before county primaries. Notices of candidacy, withdrawals, and lists are published in two papers, posted in precincts, and costs are covered by the county with no candidate fees.

John W Tucker of Jennings runs on the Republican ticket for county sheriff in the March 7 1916 primary. Born 1874 in the local township he has spent his life there and is son of the late Rev Martin H Tucker. He is known for crying sales across the county and neighboring areas and is expected to command a strong following in the primary.

Misses Bertha and Bessie Byerly of Sharptown were visitors of John Mills and Tom McClure last week. Stockholders met at Archibald schoolhouse Saturday afternoon to conduct special business. J. F. House visits his son G F House, wife, brother Joseph House and sister Mrs. Nettie Miller at New Albany this week. James McIntosh, stockman of Hardinsburg, was in the vicinity Friday and Saturday. A musical social was held at John Draper’s home last Thursday evening. Claude Arthur and Ruel House Pete Goodson and John Saltsgaver visited Leavenworth Saturday. J. M. Dean sold and delivered a good span of mules at Milltown Thursday. Abe Borstein the speckman was here last week on business. Hubert Henry held a spelling at the McLain school last Thursday. big crowd. Perry Cates attended the K of P supper at Leavenworth Tuesday evening and enjoyed it. Joy Stewart visited Misses Watts Sunday at dinner. Miss Genevra and Miss Fern Everdon attended Sunday school at Mansfield. Claude Stephenson came from Louisville to visit his parents Sunday. C E Landrus and wife Mrs Martha Tower Mrs Emily Coleman Jess Dean and Mrs Emma Stewart were dinner guests of A B Henry and family.
Walter Denton substituted for Charles A. Jones on the Jones Bros peddling route Monday and Tuesday. A. C. Byerly bought a half stake in the J. H. Taylor Co store as Mr. Taylor retires, with plans for Taylor to take up farming. Rev. W. O. Simpson concluded a successful Pilot Knob church series and will start at Dillman when weather allows. Numerous visits, meetings, and travels among residents are noted, including treasurer candidate James F. Jones, medical calls, and county civic events.
A fine snow fell on Thursday in Pilot Knob. Obituaries and numerous notices report illnesses, visits, and local happenings. Mary L. J. Sherron Goodson, born 1860, died 1916 at 55, with funeral led by Elder Samuel C. Wright.
In Leavenworth Miss Lottie Plashett of Indianapolis visits Rev and Mrs Rozier. Mrs Meade moves near the Spring. A revival begins at the M E church next Sunday with Rev E N Rozier, Rev M H Reynolds, and Miss Lottie Plaskett assisting. Other items list visitors, entertainments, and club installations in town.
Heavy rain and snow persist with several lagrippe cases in Burnett. Visits note local residents including Goodson and Powell families, Sarles relatives, and Mary Cunningham. Numerous social calls occur among Barnett Turley and Roll families with scattered travel and illnesses through the week.
