The nineteenth reunion draws 4000 to 6000 veterans from across the state to English for four days of programs, music, and speeches. The 1904 05 Indiana University catalogue shows 1538 students, two thirds men, including 86 graduates pursuing advanced degrees. Students hailed from twenty states and foreign countries. Farmers with long memory say this spring’s rains revived silks and extended ears, predicting a harvest far beyond past decades. The county reports many inches of added ear length translating to thousands of bushels districtwide. A nearby property belonging to Jos H Finch burned last week with no insurance on the structures destroyed. adjacent insured buildings sustained damage and the agent James E Stewart paid the loss within five days.
