Notices of religious meetings births and deaths and general news items from Crawford County. Miss Anna Helbach, daughter of Mr and Mrs Charles Helbach, formerly of Leavenworth now in New Albany, married Howard Leon Laitt of Cambridge Ohio in Chicago. they will visit relatives in New Albany after Niagara Falls.
Sam J. Elsby bought the Wm. L. Luckett bank building and fixtures last Monday. He plans a State or National Bank with $25,000 capital, backed by prominent Louisville bankers. The bank will operate under old management until May 1, aiming to boost local business.
Sloan Post No 318 announces its annual reunion to be held August 13 14 15 and 16 1902 by order of the administrative counsel committee Commander Thomas B Cummins directs all members to govern themselves accordingly.
The Christian Endeavorers of Indiana announce their fifteenth annual convention at Tomlinson Hall in Indianapolis from June 26 to 29. State officers promise an attractive program across all departments and expect a large attendance as state conventions alternate with the international gathering. Half-fare railroad rates are secured for attendees.
Railroads including the Monon, St. Louis and San Francisco, and Chicago, Burlington and Quincy ban drinking by all employees on and off duty. Violations trigger suspensions or dismissal, with enforcement across officials to section men. Officials say the rule promotes efficiency and safety for traveling passengers.
