Joe D. Pouch, special Census Department agent, received a letter directing enumeration of cattle, calves, sheep, lambs, hogs, goats, and kids slaughtered for food to gauge meat output versus supply. Blank forms were included to collect the required statistics under the new law.

The Clifton, former main building of the French Lick Springs Hotel company, was destroyed by fire at about 4 p.m. Loss about 20 000 dollars, fully insured. The hotel employs occupied the building, all escaped with minor losses to belongings. Origin of fire unknown. The main hotel buildings lie over 300 feet away, keeping them safe.
