Encampment-Snake River Road Fund Approved For Mine Work

W. G. Weston, manager of the Portland mine, arrives with a work force and mine reopening is set to start after the storm ends. This paves the way for revival in the Encampment mining district and Ferris-Haggerty resume. Encampment Snake River road funding approved

County commissioners at Rawlins voted for a $10 000 split two year appropriation toward the Encampment Snake River road project and requested a matching amount from the forest department. The plan, prompted by local officials and citizens, aims to open trade routes, boost sheep interests, tourism, and mining along the National Forest corridor. A special meeting also considered a road from Encampment to Savery through the National Reserve with county cost sharing.
