It’s An Ill Wind and a Vanadium Find Near Wittenberg
Herman Hertz, a Los Angeles businessman, fled a six foot rattler near Wit tenberg Arizona and saved himself by pulling a snake from a prospector’s hole. He found rock samples in the hole yielding two to four percent vanadium a valuable hardening metal. Hertz then returned to Arizona, bought an interest in the mine, sank a sixty foot shaft and was offered $100000 cash for the prospect.
