Proclamation designates Wyoming Women Registration Day 1917

Wyoming executive proclamation by Acting Governor Frank L. Houx designates Tuesday July 17 1917 as Women’s Registration Day for war service. It urges organized, intelligent support from women to bolster military effort and national defense, with registration to occur in home precincts per Wyoming Council for National Defense guidance. Mrs Hayden's town trip occurred Saturday with return Sunday. Howard Larkin and family visited Flohr and Toothaker ranches Sunday. Beaver 4th of July picnic set for Little Beaver location decided last Sunday. Alice Rosa and Lockie Boyd attended a Sunday surprise party. Nora and Alice Toothaker, Adrian Wolford, Harry Anderson, and Wilbur Toothaker joined town visit and church. Clough Nes Erickson Zoe Wolfard Eleanor Clough attended Beaver Creek Friday for a surprise at Adrian Wolfard home.

Fourth of July Picnic a Successful Affair

The Encampment basket picnic and Fourth of July celebration drew a large crowd from across the country. Saratoga beat Encampment 10 to 4 in the afternoon ball game, the dance hosted over sixty couples, and a noon basket dinner in the grove was enjoyed by all. Next event is the Fourth Annual Fish Fry on August 25 and 26, with more announcements to come.

Women of Woodcraft Elect 1915 Officers

Mrs G O Baker returned from a Laramie delegate role for the convention. The eighteenth district convention will meet in Casper in 1915. Officers elected for the year include Grace Baker banker Encampment District Attendant Matilda Anderson, Captain of Guard Mary Bailie Laramie, Bertham Rumph Outer Sentinel Rawlins, Margaret Hodes Rock Springs, and managers Mrs B J Sproat Encampment Viola Miller Casper and Mrs Park C Hayes Lander.

Local and Personal Notes on Beaver Creek Area

The week brought many visits and happenings as residents from Baeni Creek to Rawlins and Cheyenne moved about. Philip Flohr and Henry Flohr reported cattle business and ranching trips, while Mrs. Creut, Mrs. Vevey, and Mrs. Madden joined trading and visits with merchants and neighbors. The ladies’ guild held a successful bake at Parkison’s store, and Edwin Hayden was transferred to Yellowstone Park after joining Troop D. Seventh Cavalry.

Stenographer Examination Announcement and Party Report

The United States civil service commission announces a July 7 stenographer examination in forty Northwest cities due to a shortage of qualified male and female stenographers. Jobs offer about $1000 yearly. men with typewriter skills are urged to apply. Also noted is a social gathering honoring Master George Kuntanan with attendees listed and a party menu.

Jimmy Harper Dead in Carbon County Fevers

James Ho Harper, known as Jimmy Harper, one of the oldest settlers of southern Carbon county, died last week at Dhagees from spotted fever. Friends and family mourn his passing as Mrs. Mini Coren and others relocate to Keaver wreek.
