Encampment Wyoming Sees Revival After Copper Mine Closure
The town of Encampment surrounded by snow capped mountains offers fishing on the Encampment and North Platte Rivers and hunting in surrounding mountains. Nearby Hayden National Forest supports timber operations and tie drives. Since Ferris-Haggarty copper mine and smelter closed, Encampment has declined, but new businesses appear this summer and the town aims to rebound with utilities, schools, churches, and renewed activity.
