Water and irrigation rights tied to Carey act projects
Commissioner Spry in Washington told Governor Carey that the Carey land act requires affirmative proof of available water for proposed uses. The Wyoming Sierra Madre project has waited years, and no sufficient proof has been offered. Senator Warren and George Brimmer spoke with Spry, who offered extended time to provide proof, noting there is enough water in the Platte river system if storage is built. A forest service water-snow table then compares snow conditions across mountains and irrigation prospects for the valley.
