NEW TIGER BOSS Del Baker Aims Tigers Back In First Division
Del Baker succeeds Mickey Cochrane as Tigers manager and pushes for a tougher, more hustling team. Cochrane left after being dismissed by Walter O Briggs Sr during a season after pennants in 1934 and 1935 and a 1935 World Series title, with strong finishes in 1936 and 1937. Baker says no immediate changes but will demand maximum effort from every player on every play.
