The Encampment area sees renewed mining hope as the El Rey property under H E Ball resumes work and rumors say more sites may reopen before snow. Mondell Announces Senate Candidacy for Wyoming
Washington August 2 Special to the Hicho Congressman Mondell formally announced his candidacy for the United States senate for the term starting March 4 following the November 1922 election. The letter to National Committeeman Patrick Sullivan and State Chairman T Blake Kennedy states he accepts the duty after strong Republican and independent support. He notes his hesitation only to seek a broad expression of opinion and says Wyoming loyalists deserve his service when called, not at a later, more favorable time.
