State Highway News Sees Delayed Work From Weather
Heavy snow and bad weather halted road work on Thursday and Saturday of last week. When conditions improve, the Good Roads association will announce the next work date. Rocky Mountain surveyors are operating from Saratoga toward Encampment. Forest Supervisor James Blackhall expects bids soon for the Encampment Slater road, but July delays mean no immediate contracts.

D Kinahan of Craig Colorado comments on the Slater Encampment road proposal in the Sentinel. He says the route would shorten travel to Laramie in summer, attract motor tourists, and pass near the Ferris Haggarty properties. He notes possible routes over divides and cites Coppertino to Battle as the main construction challenge, urging action for northwestern Colorado and southern Carbon County Wyoming residents. Ben Bashore attended a local auction sale last Friday.
