Governor Fancher’s return looms for soldier reception
Fargo Call notes Grand Forks has raised just over a thousand dollars for the soldier reception fund and no local company in the regiment is ready. Gov. Fancher is expected to come back from Indiana soon to be in the state when the soldiers return, as he has been away to regain health. In Valley City, the Patriot tells of a gray-headed man who built a fortune on quiet farm life, declined badges, Red Cross gifts, or party support, and is labeled a hog by neighbors for high taxes and opposition to local improvements.
