A U. S. marshal detained Jake Gardener of Napoleon on Tuesday for failing to register for the draft and transported him to Fargo for a federal hearing on dodging registration. Gardener claimed to be under age but witnesses testified he sworn he was over 21 to obtain a mortgage loan. The case carries serious penalties if found guilty during the wartime period.
