Republican Platform and Candidates for North Dakota

The North Dakota Republican platform expresses loyalty to McKinley and Hobart, endorses party nominees, and pledges support. Republican delegate convention set for Emmons County

Emmons County Republicans call a convention at Williamsport on September 21 1896 at 2 p m to elect eight delegates to the Napoleon Lincoln county meeting and nominate candidates for county offices including auditor sheriff clerk of district court state s attorney county judge coroner surveyor superintendent of schools four justices of the peace four constables and one county commissioner for the second district. Representation based on one delegate per seven votes for Congressman Johnson in 1894 plus delegates at large from each precinct. Caucuses at voting places September 16 1896 from 5 to 7 p m. Democratic County Convention Set for Sept 28 at 2 PM

A Democratic voters convention will be held in Winona North Dakota on Monday September 28 1896 at 2 PM to nominate candidates for county offices. Representation is one delegate for every seven votes or major fraction cast for the Democratic governor candidate in 1894. Precinct delegate counts will be announced next week. Caucuses are urged for September 26 at 6 to 7 PM by order of Chairman W L Yzater and the Democratic County Committee.

At Anns Mills near Newville Pennsylvania Saraih Jane Geese weighing over 300 pounds tried to drown herself in Conodoguinet creek. Her body failed to sink and she floated for three hours before being found and rescued. Her husband Alexander Geese of the farming family and their twelve children are mentioned as part of the domestic background.
