Murderer Smith Captured at Fort Yates after escape

James Smith, wanted for the murder of Anton Hellinger and an escapee from McLean county jail, was captured at Fort Yates and brought to Bismarck Sunday. Deputies say he appeared dejected, wore worn clothing, and denied the accusation. He will remain jailed pending trial. Deputy Sheriff Robert Cotton tracked him after an enlistment attempt led to his identification.
