Williamsport and Livona Stage Line schedule and hotel note

The Williamsport Livona stage runs Mondays Wednesdays and Fridays at 8 am with an afternoon return. It stops at Livona on the Bismarck line, Frank Ares is agent, tickets for Livona sold at Frisbys drug store in Bismarck and riders reach Williamsport the same evening. Merchants Hotel Winona is well furnished with good table and comfort for guests, John Waldron proprietor. Emmons Fourth in Votes in Twenty-third District

Returns from nearly all counties in the Twenty-third District are in at Bismarck except Oliver and Billings. Emmons county ranks fourth in total votes cast, second only to Burleigh among east river counties. Kidder trails Emmons by 69 votes with two of its citizens running for the Legislature.

Suit Argast V Seikler Heard By Justice Campbell Verdict For Pa

The suit Argast v Seikler was tried last Saturday before Justice Campbell. Witnesses were examined and after argument by counsel, the justice awarded the plaintiff 14.50. Margach v Bottomley also heard the same day for foreclosure of a mechanic’s lien on the house on the Major Dickey claim east of Williamsport. Bottomley made no defense.

Coal Mine Near Williamsport Fueled by Local Vein

A coal vein about thirty five feet deep near Williamsport is being developed by B S E Brindle. Two miners work in newly opened passages while a home made elevator and soon a trump elevator will boost output from about two and a half tons daily to higher production. Coal sold at the mine for 3.50 per ton, with expectations of lower prices as staffing and machinery improve. The vein appears to extend under several miles, with similar thick seams found nearby. The Brindle venture is hailed as a lasting fuel solution for Emmons County residents in the Williamsport area.
