A speaker condemns a public official described as hypocritical for praying loudly, perjuring to seize government land, using office to punish enemies, and spreading whispered lies about those hated. The point is such conduct would deter faith communities more than the example of genuine Christians.
A writer visits Pollock in Emmons county to report a year of rapid growth. The town, about 250 residents, hosts large stores led by Frank Lutzenhiser with a wagon-turned-store past, Horton & Devon, E L Iverson, and Weinstein Bros. Shown are the Drug Co. with Dr Shuckey and Billy Elgar, the Pollock Drug Co., and other firms selling hardware, lumber, grain, meat, and farm machinery. The stone buildings by Glover, Missouriside church progress, and the steady grain trade from Emmons county mark Pollock as a solid commercial center.
The passage notes the town will gain and lose trade with the railroad completion to Hague and Strasburg yet remains a frontier business center due to surrounding farming country. It acknowledges Linton as distant and not a rival and thanks Dr. Shockey for guiding the scribe and introducing him to local businessmen.

Clarence Loutzenhiser visits from Montana with Guy Allen. Gid Hobkirk auctioned personal property near Dale. he and family will move to Kingston Canada, longtime residents regret their departure.

Multiple notices from the U.S. Land Office in Bismarck and BisManck North Dakota announce timber culture final proofs for various applicants including Jakob Ochsner, Konrad Huber, Jakob Rutschke, Peter Ochsner, Phillip Peiffer, and others. Hearings and witness lists name towns Hein Lein Stein Linton and dates set for December 1902 with observers and witnesses listed for each claim.
A closing out sale offers harness hardware stores and more at reduced prices until January 1 1903. The owner will close books and require cash or good notes, then sell only for cash at cash prices to run a cash store with small profit margins. The dealer’s old location in West Linton is listed for viewing.
