North Dakota weekly notices report a blast seven miles southeast of Lehr. A 25 horsepower engine exploded releasing sixty pounds of steam, killing Wacek Kramer and Audun Reich and injuring several others and two horses. The engine and boiler were blasted far from the wreckage. owned by P Becker & Co.
News from near Minot reports the farmhouse of Andrew Landrock near Newport burned with two of his children, aged eight and six, inside. The surviving fourteen year old escaped to a nearby farmhouse for help as flames engulfed the structure. the building and remains were recovered and Landrock lies bereaved.
Chicago official Healy faced charges of improper use of his office and of the September grand jury to aid Governor Deneen in pressing an application for W. P. Tuttle’s papers. Tuttle, a former broker and club member, faced arrest in Stevie N. D. Tuttle case as his wife Louise disputed the estate value.
Charles Bu aged veterinarian, allegedly intoxicated for days, was pushed from a restaurant by Edward Shimm after refusing to leave. Bu fell and hit, dying later as a result of his alcohol impaired condition. No blame attached to Shimm.
Frank Laraviere, a half breed farmer near Walhalla, died after a quarrel. Robert Laidlaw and brother in law George Lafier were arrested and charged with the killing. Witnesses are reticent about details. Laidlaw allegedly struck Laraviere, knocking him from the sidewalk into the street.
Thomas Stanton appeared before Judge Pollock in Fargo last week on grand larceny charges. He pled guilty and sentencing was deferred to the next term. Bond was set at 1000 dollars. Stanton was arrested at Wahpeton after allegedly stealing about 70 dollars from Carl F Wise, his Fargo roommate.
The report notes Fred Catlin of Iowa was arrested in Fargo last week on a masher charge. He posted $5 bail after remarks to young ladies in a crowd awaiting a long train. The item also mentions an alleged horse thief captured by Sheriff Reid of Medora and Otto Cheneworth tied to prior thefts in 1901 and Montana.
An arrest report states David Bootes was taken into custody in Grand Forks at the request of the State’s Attorney of Chicago and will be held for transfer. The notice mentions Mr Healy but provides no further essential context.

William T. Pike named American consul at Glauchau. William R. Estes appointed consul at Zittau Germany. Lady Florence Dixie dies in Scotland. Walter G. Tubby appointed by the Isthmian Canal Commission chairman.
New York returns show George R. McClellan Democrat re elected mayor by about 3 000 to 4 000 plurality over W R Hearst Municipal Ownership. William T Jerome Independent re elected district attorney by about 8 000 over James W Osborne Democrat. Hearst alleges fraud and plans a contest.
Ohio returns show Republican Herrick leading Pattison by about 1 6 thousand votes with 440 of 4 200 precincts reporting. Democratic gains in cities offset by smaller gains outside them. State Journal figures put Herrick ahead by single digits in many counties as results remain too close to declare a winner.
Eugene E. Schmitz was re-elected mayor of San Francisco for a third term, gaining a majority of at least 15,000 over rival John S. Partridge, who ran as the joint nominee of Republicans and Democrats.
The Providence report notes a Republican sweep with Governor George H. Utter predicted to win by about 3000 over Democrat Lucien F. Garvin. Running mates expected to secure large pluralities as Republican gains appear in both legislative chambers.

Lincoln Neb Nov 8 Returns from Nebraska elections show Charles B Letton Republican defeats William G Hastings Fusion for associate justice of the supreme court by a margin larger than Judge Barnes two years ago, a plurality exceeding 9 127 votes.
In Massachusetts the Republican Lieutenant Governor Curtis Guild Jr. won the governorship by a 29,435 vote plurality over Democrat Charles W. Bartlett. Eben Draper carried second place over Democrat Henry M. Whitney by 3,942. Republicans also took seven of eight executive council seats and most of both legislative chambers, while Democrats gained three Senate seats and one House seat.
Reports from interior Russia recount renewed massacres and looting across the Caucasus and Bessarabia. In Bachmut, Jews faced a three day attack with stores ransacked and homes burned as troops arrived too late to halt the violence.
Philadelphia reports a strong reform wave with the City party ticket winning by a large plurality. With six of forty-two wards counted, the Republican local ticket trails by an estimated 60 000 to 75 000. William H. Berry, Democratic Reform candidate for state treasurer, wins. J Lee Flummer loses heavily.
A letter to Bishop Merle confirms a mob attack in Lianchow following a theater removal petition. The crowd burned the hospital, girls school, and missionaries’ homes, pursued the fugitives, and killed all except Dr Machle and Miss Patterson who escaped to Yamen. Dr Machle was badly wounded.
Four children aged 10 to 14 die in the blast that destroyed the Miners National Bank. Sixteen injured include three fatally or gravely hurt, as two workmen lighting a gas jet triggered a devastating explosion. Rescue crews report extensive damage and casualties at the collapsed building.
The 1907 New Jersey election increased Republican control of the state legislature and made a Democrat unlikely to succeed United States Senator John F. Dryden. Republicans gained three seats in the state senate, electing lawmakers from Gloucester, Salem and Somerset counties, reducing Democratic strength to only a portion of the chamber.

At James Brennan’s home a stepmother, Mrs. Brennan, murdered four of his children and seriously wounded a fifth before shooting herself. The victims include Alice sixteen Lizzie fourteen Arthur seven and Thomas thirteen. Mrs. Brennan was wounded but may recover. The tragedy followed a quarrel the night before.
Cincinnati report notes Mrs Cassie L Chadwick has lost her bid for a new trial as the U S circuit court of appeals denies rehearing. She remains jailed in Cleveland serving ten years for conspiring to defraud under the national banking law related to the Citizens National Bank wreck at Oberlin Ohio where the president has since died.
Minneapolis report says a grand jury indicted W. F. Bechtel W. A. Kerr Wallace Campbell and J. F. Force for conversion of funds bribery and fraud in connection with the former management of the Northwestern National Life association now reorganized under State Insurance Commissioner O brien The panel found evidence alleging a $5 000 bribe by former Commissioner J A O'Shaughnessy to suppress a negative report and that George F Getty aided in converting company funds The present management is praised as honest and not responsible for past actions
Odessa reports about 6000 killed or wounded from recent riots with the city hospital housing 2000 wounded. Of the 6000 casualties 964 died, 313 buried in Jewish cemeteries and 661 in Christian cemeteries.
Wheat futures show Dec at 8213 cents per bushel and May at 87 4 cents. On track No 1 hard and No 1 Northern bid 85 cents, No 2 Northern 82 cents, No 3 Northern 81 cents.
St Paul market notes show cattle from good to choice steers at 4.50 to 5.50, common to fair 3.75 to 4.25, cows and heifers 3.50 to 4.25, yearlings 2.00 to 5.00. Hogs ranged 4.25 to 4.90. Sheep and lambs listed with yearling wethers 5.00 to 5.75 and good to choice lambs 6.00 to 6.40.
