Efficiency Commission of North Dakota acts to boost wartime farming

The Efficiency Commission appointed by Governor Frazier met in Jamestown on April 27 1917 and urged farmers to expand acreage especially flax and potatoes. It calls for fair minimum prices, restraint on selling immature livestock, war time product regulation, and broad citizen support to harvest labor and shipping needs while keeping education in session and promoting national food production during World War I.

Correspondent Livona Lingo reports this week on community items. A baby boy born to Mr. and Mrs. Joe Gillman last Thursday, May third. Mrs. Wm. Baker and two daughters visited Mrs. Jackson on Sunday. Leslie Easton plans to farm part of George Cortbin’s land this year. Harry Cockburn visited Burbage’s from Linton. Olivier Pettis had a three day hunt and kept his horses at Linton. Martin Hulsvark spent a day here and is now in Forsythe Montana. Miss Thompson traveled to Bismarck Friday and returned via Ft. Rice. Mrs. Wayne Graybear remains ill, mother helping at home. Billy Davis has gone to Montana seeking work. Mrs. D. still unsettled.
