Obituary notes John Parker born Feb 18 1822 in Wayne County Indiana. He served in Merrill’s Horse during the Civil War, practiced law in Des Moines and Winchester, Iowa, moved to Dakota Territory, and held local offices in Emmons County. He died April 22 1896 at the Rush Hotel Williamsport after a long illness with chronic diarrhea. Surviving sons are Charles F. Parker and James C. Parker. daughter Luzelda Urbane Dixon. niece Leah Carmichael. He led Emmons County G A R and chaired the Republican county committee.
