A devastating prairie fire swept through Williamsport and surrounding districts, burning three fourths of county pasture. Houses and stables were lost at several claims while families fought flames with guards and plowed ground. Dozens aided by neighbors, with Mrs Derr guiding two girls to safety.
The notice lists season herd stock duties with rates for horses at 1.00 and cattle at 0.07 per head, mentions water, range, and daily timing. A March 26 note to the Azcona editor recalls a north wind driven prairie fire rushing into Winchester valley from Danbury at about forty miles per hour. Timely aid from South Prairie and Ohio neighbors saved Winchester and nearby farm buildings. Myhill Maxwell and Garry faced close calls as fire destroyed most of Myhill and Maxwell’s young timber. The writer calls for locating the arsonist.

Roderic a stable and haystack. A W Scofield a shack tools and potatoes. Join F Geil wood hay a stable oats and harness. Lincoln Geil a shack stable seed wheat. the Danbury post office building was burned though most post office property was saved. David L. Chapman reported losses of wood hay stable and a hog and granary.

Farmer Bottomley and Major Dickey traveled to Bismarck on Monday with the Major staying and Mr. B. returning home yesterday. Mrs. W. E. Joslyn, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bentley, has been visiting in Williamsport country and left Monday for her Montana home.
A meeting at Cherry Grove schoolhouse No. 1 near the Merriam townsite is scheduled for Sunday March 81 to reorganize the Sunday school. All interested are cordially invited to attend.
