In the winter of 1916 17 a severe blizzard cripples rail service on the N P branch north and Milwaukee line south. Linton residents, stranded in Bismarck, await trains as crews struggle through snowdrifts and a looming railway strike.
The record lists numerous warranty deeds, quit claim and patent transfers. Transactions show transfers to individuals such as Frank W. Orthmeyer Grace H Snyder and Joseph Dillman among others, with acreages ranging up to 190 acres and values from $1 to $4160, across sections 22 23 28 31 34 14 13 12 in towns including Linton Strasburg and Milwaukee Land Co additions.
The third and fourth graders list Arthur Sauther Johanna Lipp Velma Corner Earle Irvine Roy Rudy Esther Klaudt James Postle Thomas Barger Hazel Gillespie Martina Hagar Wilbur Burge Cecil Gillespie Charles Lang for perfect spelling. Nine more pupils are perfect on time for a month. The next regular board meeting moves to April 10. Regular meetings are the second Tuesday of July October January and April. The Braddock school keeps a sewing machine and a steriopticon for teaching. State Superintendent and Attorney General push compulsory attendance and library and flag laws enforcement. Certificates for three months perfect attendance awarded to listed students from multiple districts.

Riverside Refining Co announces a part to full time position offering commission sales for lubricating oils grease paints and related products. Preference for a man with a rig to secure spring and summer deliveries in Cleveland Ohio. Adv.
A red yearling steer without marks or brands has been in the neighborhood since December 1. Owner must call, pay charges, and take the animal away. Contact W. H. Grogan.

Thompson Yards Inc. sales manager Einar Grotting reports a record fifteen days with twenty two Weyerhauser Stave Silos sold. He predicts more sales and claims silos boost Emmons County land value up to 100 dollars per acre. Grotting advocates diversified farming and says a silo can help build a barn and home quickly. The paper endorses Grotting’s push as progress. WANTED Several men to handle a live proposition in Emmons and adjoining counties. If you wish to realize dollars write R I Roach Jamestown N D.
