The jury in the Hayward trial convicted Harry Hayward on the first ballot for the murder of Catherine Ging. He faces execution by hanging after three months on a date to be set by Governor Clough. A senate clerk received a silver service from colleagues as a goodwill gesture. The Waterloo Gazette debuts in Nebraska amid editorial praise and North Dakota ties. A bid to repeal the land contest filing deadline failed, upheld by Senators Hansbrough and Roach.
The Bismarck Tribune commends Senator Little for shepherding his bills through, noting the paper’s modesty in praising Col. Little who is a stockholder. The senator earns deserved compliments from a paper that covers his wins and influence.

Judge Finch cites The State vs Callahan ruling as sound in Cass county school case. State supreme court opinions frequently quoted by eastern courts.

Other items include a coon farm start, a lurid school clerk tale, a cheap hair butter, and a New York Sun chat about identifying babies in church nursery.
Mr and Mrs George Danville of Yankton county 5 D have been married 14 years and boast 27 children all born in triplets. The eldest is over 13 and all are boys except one set of triplets that are girls. Mrs Danville is Norwegian and Mr Danville Hoosier. All children are sturdy and healthy.
A Record scribe noted Johnny Baker lame from a cow's use as a rocking chair, then seen Monday lively as a cricket with a broad smile. Born March 5, 1895 to Mr and Mrs John Baker of Williamsport, a nine pound girl arrives, cared for by Mrs Chalfie. Both mother and baby are reported well.
The notice lists bonds and warrants totaling 8000 dollars including 3000 in 7 percent bonds and 1400 in 5 percent bonds. Warrants outstanding about 3500 dollars plus interest about 500 dollars. James Dickson announces a herd run about four miles north of Williamsport near the old Hawks place with cattle sold at 75 cents per head.
A session of the County Court of Emmons county will be held in Williamsport on the first Monday and third Saturday of every month. Josefi Kalorrer serves as County Judge.

The Kellogg Enterprise notes Ira L. Young has moved back to Jasper County after years in North Dakota. He was seen last Saturday with his son in law A B Tabor north of Newton. The writer suspects it was Ira or his ghost visiting Iowa and hints the piece may refer to Ira’s father J J Young who returned to Iowa recently.
