Emmons County Republicans Nominate Ten Delegates
The Emmons County Republican convention at Linton elected temporary chair Wesley Baker and temporary secretary Ira Mandigo. Delegates and proxies from all precincts were organized, with credentials, organization, and resolutions committees reporting and approving a platform backing McKinley and Roosevelt and the state ticket. Two tickets vied for the Grand Forks delegation, led by Wesley Baker among others, with a Patterson hotel caucus producing the rival slate.

Pioneer Picnic at Kurtz Grove Draws Large Crowd
The annual Pioneer picnic at Kurtz's Grove near Williamsport drew perhaps the largest crowd yet, with music by the Bismarck Band, speeches by Emmons County's Joe Worst, and plentiful lemonade and ice cream. Reunions, stories of days past, and lively dancing followed a day of warm sun and a strong economy mindset, ending around midnight. The event credits President Joe Boe and Secretary Ed Campbell of the Pioneers' Association, with plans for future gatherings. A second note invites Emmons county residents to a July 4 picnic near Mr. Gayton's warehouse in Hampton, with basket dinner and free lemonade.
