North Dakota Roundup Notes Weather War News

A rough statewide bulletin reports road conditions in Billings county and widespread storm damage in western North Dakota. Farmers anticipate strong crops despite late spring, with rain in the northwest and good conditions in the southwest. It also covers county courthouse expansions in Burleigh, land claim title rules for teachers, potato pests, and local social life including a Napoleon wedding.

The Record notes George Grogan’s well drilling by Lloyd Elwess and Charlie Lovell who bought P. T. Malone’s outfit. John Lovell filed final proof with W H Grogan and Will Johnson as witnesses. William Parks bought a hunting dog for ten dollars from W T McGuire. Frank J Sikel and William Parks returned from the Missouri river after a fishing trip. The Ohio Mount Pleasant and north Sabbath schools planned a picnic but it was postponed due to the Jennings lawn social. Fifty to sixty attended Jennings residence preaching last Sunday. A lawn social at the Jennings home is tonight with ice cream and cake from 6 to 10. A short program is set. all are invited. The social is free, but a free-will offering goes to the pastor’s salary.

Brofy Bits Game Sparks Nine Run Battle at Hazelton

Correspondence from the Record notes a lively baseball game where Brofy defeated Hazelton eight to four amid noisy plays and crowd reaction. Reports also recount local weather, a water-drilling project near Brofy, and residents traveling to the capital for land matters as storms and floods disturb the area.

Bridge Danger Warning Prompted by Fatality Rumor

The passage notes a man returning from town with telegrams about Mr. Mastin's death and arriving late. It mentions no danger signal at the damaged bridge and argues red light signals should be installed to prevent injury and possible county liability from wrecks due to the missing warning.

Notice for Emmons County Bridge Bids 1907

Scaled bids for furnishing and constructing two steel bridges must be received by the Emmons County Board of Commissioners at the county auditor in Linton ND by 8 p.m. on August 6 1907. Bridges span 24 feet each one crosses Spring creek and the other Buchanan creek bids must include plans. The board may reject all bids. J G Prits county auditor.

Lost Red Cow Near Rye Township

Notice states a red dehorned cow with a big knee and no visible brand was taken up by H P Tracy residing in section 26 township 130 Rye 78 near Dale North Dakota. The call to return is requested between July 25 and August 8.
