Suit to forfeit Manitoba charter and void watered stock

St Paul Jan 25 suit against the St Paul Minneapolis and Manitoba railroad and Great Northern to forfeit the Manitoba charter was filed by Attorney General E T Young. The petition seeks voiding of stock issued by the Great Northern on Manitoba assets and an injunction against dividends on watered stock. The suit argues Manitoba ceased to function since Feb 1 1890 after transferring railroad property and claims large watered stock. it seeks payment of the 4 percent tax and asks scrutiny of Great Northern capitalization.

Jan 24 in Ramsey County District Court Judge Omar Hallam issued a temporary injunction restraining Great Northern Railway from increasing its capital by 69 million dollars without consent of the Minnesota railroad and warehouse commission. German Mine Disaster Hits Prussia

A firedamp explosion at the Reden mine Bildstock shaft in St Johann on Saar killed and injured many workers.
