Emmons County Poised as Rural Haven in Dakota Frontier

Emmons County lies south of Burleigh and west of Logan and McIntosh, with Missouri River on its western edge. Centered around Williamsport, it features fertile soil, abundant water, and early rail prospects. Wheat and potatoes yield well, stock-raising thrives, and several towns serve a growing agricultural region. Railroads from the south and southeast to Bismarck will pass through Emmons, promising substantial settler opportunities amid coal finds and available homesteads.

Lang returns to edit Kincardine Review in Canada

An old Chicago craftsman and friend, Mr. Joseph Lang, has moved to Canada and taken the role of editor and publisher of the Kincardine Review. Lang, former president of the Chicago Typographical Union, aided our union campaigns and was nicknamed King of the Kanucks by opponents during a heated period of international printers’ politics.

Canadians and Americans Thwart War Talk and Labor Unity

An editorial laments wartime talk between Canada and the United States while praising cross-border kinship and the International Typographical Union. It contrasts farmer Grange power with trade unions, warns against internal decay, and notes political shifts in Minnesota, including COLMAN’s rise and inter-state railway regulation. Bumetend reached the county seat on final-proof business en route to Bismarck but delayed by weather.
