In LinTon North Dakota on December 5 1903 H R Berndt signs a statement denying that G A Herolz made any complaints regarding the residence and final proof of J A Lemery s homestead or about any other homesteader.
J A Lemery declares in a published affidavit that false statements were circulated about his homestead and that G A Herolz of Linton accused him of leaving pipes county before roof work. The letter references a December 1903 land office inquiry and inspector Berndt's testimony.
The text notes that Mr L states his actions and the inspector asserts the same event. It concludes there is no apparent conflict between the two statements and implies alignment in their accounts.
At the bride's residence near Winchester the couple Henning Hasselstrom and Kinora Anderson joined in marriage with few guests. Attorney Charlies S. Alfred Moran, described as turbulent, attacked his father in J. O. Leach’s Cannon Ball store after a night of drinking. Leach intervened and shot Moran in the abdomen, killing him in self defense. Leach surrendered, was jailed, and released after a coroner's inquest found self defense. Moran’s father testified the killing was in defense of others.
Prof Babcock of the state university writes approvingly of a sandstone sample for St Louis World's Fair as a first class building stone and asks for larger blocks. Capt Cushing urges Emmons county farmers to send corn samples to boost North Dakota’s display at the fair.

The Chicago Milwaukee & St Paul Railway and Union Pacific extend daily service to Colorado and California. Through standard sleepers and tourist sleepers run to San Francisco while Chicago to Denver gets standard sleepers and reclining chair cars. Public notice from Adams-Morrow Land Company to Frank W. Ortwayer announces rent and payment defaults on a July 1002 contract covering lands in Emmons County North Dakota. It states cancellation will occur January M, 1904 after persistent defaults totaling $650 principal plus $9 interest and further $119.40 due July 18 1908, with rights to terminate all interest in the described property. Department of the Interior issues a notice of contest in a homestead entry case in Stermer county North Dakota. Max Helidrich contests entry No 1 dated April 26 1901 for sections in township 190 north range 78 alleging Herman Stermer failed to reside and cultivate the land and that improvements are lacking. Final hearing set for February 17 2004 with due process to prove due diligence and service. Filed with the US land Office in Bismarck ND and issued by Receiver John Satterlund.
