Deer Capture by Brown Higbee Brady and Frace at Wixcleston

A group including Brown Higbee Brady and Frace visited the river last week and brought back three fine deer. New Year’s party at Michael Mahaney’s home in Stason with over forty guests featured top notch refreshments and lively music by George Pitts and organist C F Parker, lasting until 5 a.m.

Venison rustler noted at Camp Shields woods

Correspondent reports a venison rustler in the Camp Shields area. Visitors include Mr. Simon Kurtz and Mr. W. H. Fish staying through winter. Bert Goodsill and Ed Hodgkinson retrieved fine deer on the season’s last day. Five Winchester boys hunt nearby and have four deer to their credit. George hunted a doe but the animal vanished after the shot.

Wescott to ship young stock from Wisconsin trip

Mr J W Wescott of Winchester plans a Wisconsin trip next spring to source young breeding stock. He offers two carloads of wood fed two year old fair heifers at 22 dollars each in Emmons County if orders exist, aiming to secure two carloads from Williamsport area. He also notes potential to acquire Aberdeen Angus bulls from J M Hills herd near St Paul and cites North Dakota Farmer on Hills prize winning polled cattle.

Emmons County Cattle Leading East Side on the Slope

The census shows Emmons County has more cattle than any other east-side county on the Slope where mixed farming prevails. The stock is of good class, but officials urge organized efforts to improve it by introducing thoroughbreds or high-grade stock.
