Double Birthday Party at Sand Creek
Mr. Adolph Pfaff and Miss Rosie Schlichenmaiter hosted a Sunday, August 16, 1914, birthday gathering at Sand Creek. A large group enjoyed ice cream, cake, games, peanuts and gum, then left early as rain began. On the way home a party’s vehicle broke down and needed repairs, adding to the amusing recap.

Hague Fire Ravages Welles-Thompson Yard and Downtown
A Sunday morning blaze in Hague destroyed multiple storefronts along Main Street including F. Sahli John Ell Brooks & Co Fred Fischer and L P Muenz. The Welles-Thompson Lumber Co. survived only by luck as a dog’s alarm helped contain the flames. Only the lumber yard carried insurance.
