North Dakota Agricultural College seeks stenographers of above average ability and turns to Dakota Business College Fargo for graduates. Over 20 D B C. graduates have joined the college, latest being Mrs Evalee Smith. Dakota training yields dependable performers for responsible jobs. Northern Minnesota settlers flee as forest fires sweep the region. Governor Preus warns residents to escape now to avoid a 1918-like catastrophe. Six dead, ten missing. worst blaze near Kelsey between Duluth and Eveleth. Ranger Gibbs reports Kelsey fire burning fiercely. six trucks dispatched to aid refugees. State Forester Cox orders all paper and saw mill workers to Duluth to help, with two thousand foresters plus state troops on duty.
Colonel William H. Hart, in charge of quartermasters and docking army bases in New York, is nominated by President Harding for the rank of major general as quartermaster general. He succeeds Major General Harry L. Rogers after a four year term. The president also nominates Colonel Benjamin Alvord as assistant adjutant general with brigadier general rank. Alvord was the first Adjutant General of the 4. E. F. and helped organize the adjutant general's department for General Pershing in France.
