Williamsport Dakota offers fertile government land nearby and a thriving settler community. The region features wheat oats and barley crops, strong root yields, several schoolhouses within ten miles, religious services, and planned rail access toward Bismarck. Long reader note details visits to Cannonball Ranch near Parkin, with a huge stock of horses cattle and mares. Describes Parkin as an expansive grower with a large corn field and watermelons, calling it a center of activity in the Dakota frontier.

At a district legislative committee meeting in Bismarck Emmons County gains three delegates for the convention to be held October 13 at 2 o clock. A convention at Williamsport on September 6 will choose two delegates and two alternates for the Republican Territorial Convention at Yankton September 22. A Democratic county committee meeting at Williamsport called for a convention to pick delegates to the territorial convention at Aberdeen on September 9.

A J Macdonald of New York and Scott of Richmond visit Mr Campbell. Treasurer Stevenson returns home from the Cannonball, recounting two rainstorms on the trip.
Mr C H Edick returned from his Emmons County farm Wednesday evening with an encouraging view of the country. He notes crops far better than expected, farmers ready for fall work, and talk of prosperity next year. Coal veins near the Burleigh and Emmons line provide heat at low cost, and residents anticipate a railroad this fall or early next season bringing enhanced comforts and growth.
Olivet Rural Voice argues drilled wheat outperforms broadcast in drought and yields more bushels per acre in dry Territoral areas. Emmons County townships in bond debt can use current taxes for operating needs, funding teachers and schools.
